What is it?

The Library Partner Project is our way of spreading information to the community. We have procured a collection of children's books written in endangered languages by native speakers to make available throughout our community. Since many of the books do not have English translations, we were careful to choose books with many illustrations to engage all readers. We will partner with local libraries and schools to set up exhibits containing these books for all to enjoy. Most of the books we have chosen are written in critically endangered languages, meaning the language is on the brink of extinction. Some of the selected languages only have one speaker left and, by the time our project gets off its feet, the language may already be extinct. Our team carefully selected each book in order to not only spread knowledge of the language, but to give our support to native authors and small publishing companies.

Why do we do it?

Since endangered languages are a problem that is not typically addressed or heard about by the general public, not many searches will be done online to find websites or nonprofits related to it. That's why we thought that we should prompt awareness of the problem with exhibits that can be seen by all throughout the community. In addition, by buying and spreading these books, we are providing our support to authors and companies that publish that work with endangered languages. By giving these books to libraries, we are not only sharing information with the public, but preserving the languages in text and spreading them to new locations.

How can I help?
